Through the representation of the image of this drowning shark, filled with desperation and suffering, the artists aims at awakening in the viewers the feeling of compassion and sympathy. Through this work, the artist consciously joins the movement of those who advocate the protection of sharks and the respect for life and nature.


Born in 1968 in Sichuan province, Feng Zhengjie graduated with a Master degree from Oil Painting Department of Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts. He currently lives and works between Beijing, Chengdu, Singapore and Korea. As one of the most established contemporary Chinese artist, his artworks have been presented in solo and group exhibitions in many countries including China, US, Korea, Japan, Italy and Singapore.
